Prospect Watch: Salt Lake jumped starter Jared Kollar for four runs on a pair of homers before he’d recorded an out and never yielded the lead Saturday night. Kollar was chased after three innings, giving up six hits, three walks, and five runs. The 2022 undrafted free agent made 11 appearances with the Chihuahuas last year, posting a 4.72 ERA. In his 2025 debut, the Pennsylvania native landed just 50% of his pitches in the zone, but got hit hard when he was in the zone. … Jason Blanchard, Kevin Kopps and Tom Cosgrove followed Kollar and combined for four hitless innings to give the Chihuahuas offense a chance to get back in the game. Kopps, who first reached Triple-A in 2023, got five whiffs on 10 swings as he worked around an error in an otherwise perfect frame. … El Paso pulled within one on a two-out, two-strike two-run single by Trenton Brooks in the seventh inning. The San Diego County native, who had a pair of homers in his first game in the organization, now has five RBIs on the young season. The minor league free agent has logged more than 1,500 Triple-A plate appearances since mid-2021. … Mason McCoy, a late addition to the 40-player roster during spring training, had two more hits and a sacrifice fly. The long-time upper-level minor leaguer is now 4-for-7 in his first two games.
